About Me
Hi! I’m Dr. Loni Stookey
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
So Much to Think About. so many questions. That’s Where I come In.
Hello there! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist that specializes in Marriage Therapy, Sex Therapy and Women’s Issues. In addition to relationship and sex issues, many clients come to see me for help with Anxiety and Depression. We work on identifying why these alarm systems are going off and begin to build a more balanced life. Situations and problems may not always go away in a client’s external world, but we can find moments of peace with the right tools and new insight from therapy. If you think you might want to work with me on a different issue, please call so we can talk about if I am the right fit for you. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Family Life and Human Development, a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Sexology. I am a Certified Sex Therapist and am also trained in Gottman Couple’s Therapy, a proven method of breaking down the ways we are sabotaging our relationships. In session, we then learn how to develop stronger friendships with our partners through specific, proven, principles. Many Sex Issues resolve after couple’s counseling because more intimacy comes naturally with better communication and emotional safety. However, some issues and sexual dysfunctions require additional education and Sex Therapy.
On a more personal note, I have been married to my husband, Bob for 27 years and we have 5 kids together. Before finishing school as an “older” student, I was a stay at home mom for 18 years. I love my pack of people, music, sports, reading, and sitting on a beach doing nothing. A few years ago I dealt with thyroid cancer and am figuring out how to punch it in it’s ugly face. The benefit is that I have a lot more empathy for emotional and physical roller coasters! (A great asset for my job.) I am an active member of my church, a native of St. George, Utah and the tenth of twelve kids in a his, mine and ours marriage.
Getting help early can make a difference in time and outcome of therapy. The longer we wait for help, the deeper we often get into the problem. I understand this call can be a hard one (or an exciting one) to make, but I’d love you hear from you. You can call, email or text me for a free phone consultation or to schedule an appointment.
Looking forward to meeting you!
